She performs alone, with guitar and electronic effects, building rich drones, other-worldly harmonies and curious rhythms using looped samples of her own voice and guitar.

A powerful and versatile singer, Lanii released her first EP in 2012, accompanied by Sydney indie-rock band The Sooks. She’s co-written songs for afrobeat ensembles and children’s choirs, performed vocals and harmonies for soul groups and industrial acts, and sang in Karen O’s ‘Psycho Opera’ Stop the Virgens as part of the 2012 Vivid festival at the Sydney Opera House.

Her recent work shows the influence of all these things and more; filtered through her own sensibility, they emerge as something quite new. Disney dreamscapes, fractured lullabies and vivid psychodramas rendered with nothing but a guitar, a voice, and a sense of restless curiosity about the sonic possibilities contained within both.
