Jingo - Alternative Rock Live Act in London

Jingo Short Info

Jingo are a transatlantic, alt-rock, four-piece formed in early 2013 by couple, Jack and Katie Buckett, and rhythm section, Joe Reeves and Chris Smith.

Jack and Joe met Katie, a painter and singer, in New York. Jack lured Katie back to a warehouse in East London, where they started the Cable Street Electric open mic night, which became a meeting place for all kinds of musicians. Then Jack and Katie got married. So did Joe. (Not to Chris.) Then they started Jingo. Their first show was supporting Graham Coxon of Blur. It’s basically a sweaty fairytale.

Jingo are pop: they have hooks; they have shape. They’re rock: the guitars are all controlled virtuosity. But there’s a restless, unquiet inventiveness which makes Jingo, Jingo. Take the bass, which is off on a disco business trip of its own. The songs have a real and unabashed sense of scale, of purpose. They also bring the cowbell back, which I like. But Katie’s voice is the star of the show. It’s big, lusty, threatening, raucous, passionate – it’s a fruitless sweep through the thesaurus, looking for just one word to do this thing justice.

Jingo’s self-recorded debut album, "The Art of Loving", was released in September 2014 and has since had tracks played on BBC London Introducing with Gary Crowley and Amazing Radio with Greg Porter. The Release coincided a tour of the US with friends, 'Not Blood Paint'. and the band are now planning a new EP along with another tour in the first half of 2015, this time around Germany and Western Europe

- Freddy Syborn

"Angsty, melodic brilliance. They're a no nonsense act that fill the void left by the wimpy, foppish haired indie acts of late."
FHM

"Jingo have the potential, to re-invent the wheel."
LOUDER THAN WAR

"East London has finally come up with an answer to the pit that is your modern rock collection."
AAA MUSIC

"earth-shattering, seismic vocals and music to match."
THE SOUND OF CONFUSION

"the feistiness of the vocalist Katie that reminded me of those awesome gals like Alison Mosshart and Leila from Duke Spirit. A Large Dramatic sound"
7 BIT ARCADE

"Listening to London's Jingo is a bit like listening to a rockier Portishead with Beth Gibbons being force-fed steroids."
