She has achieved SAG Professional Actors Union status through her parts in commercials and feature films, was praised by critics for her theatrical performances in roles alongside Lynn Redgrave and Holly Hunter, and recorded her first EP in 2003 and her second in 2004. She was given national airplay on Radio Disney by 2005, was signed by an independent label that same year, and soon set off to Los Angeles to record her first full-length album, Beautiful Things - which received honorable mention in the International Songwriting Competition in 2006.
Jillian spent the next years touring with acts including Hilary Duff, Gavin DeGraw, JoJo, Aaron Carter, Bowling for Soup, Skye Sweetnam, and many others wowing audiences at both small intimate venues and large arenas. She also took on several spokesperson roles including BandDigs.com and the World’s Fair for Kids.
When Jillian’s label dissolved, she chose to concentrate her efforts on developing her artistry. She studied guitar, drums, piano, and electronic looping techniques, and continued to write and refine her original songs. Though her roots are in pop music, Jillian’s style has developed into a fusion of indie, electronic, and pop elements, with uniquely assertive lyrics and distinctive layered arrangements. The aggressive honesty, use of satire, and creative play on words in her songwriting aim not to romanticize, but instead serve to voice her realist outlook that is often representative of her generation. With her many influences, Jillian strives to blur genre confines, with the intention to feed her message to a variety of palettes.
