Kings & Queens | Album | 2012 |
They combine catchy melodies with a variety of sociopolitical song themes, delivered via some incredible musicianship. The group as a whole are a very likeable bunch who clearly enjoy playing with each other, and always seem grateful to an audience for being there with them. At the heart of everything they do is a real DIY attitude. Although their song material can be dark at times (mental health issues, suicide, violence against trans people, being rejected by family), it is always served with a sense of hope and togetherness that has the ability to draw you in and make you feel welcome. The overall message is simple; being queer is great, stick with your friends, be there for each other.
