He pursuid this talent and in his early teens took up some after school classes (keyboard skill) where he found he had a natural ability of creating his own sounds through midi keys. Having a passion for music is something Jay R has always had but he explains how music was an escape for him.

"We had it rough as kids there was me and my two sisters both older than me which was'nt too bad as I got left alone most the time

but we moved around alot  we paid the price as we never had a stable childhood was never in a school for more than six months

so i had to find something that would always be there

I didnt have to have the work on the table to see what I was doing I could just listen and create in my mind".

Having done this for a number of years Jay R had the oppurtunity to enrol into college and pursue a course to study Creative Music Production at Westwood Campus Scarborough.

Jay R stayed hard with the production game networking with new producers,rappers and songwriters down to the man who plays the unsigned songs in the club.

This is where he then began to build a foundation for his career path.

After several assignments Jay R was given the oppurtunity to perfom at the Creative Music Production anual festival at Birminghams NEC along with performing in front of hudreds of other students he took to the stage and delivered an amazing show with dancers, lighting and an overall brilliant atmosphere making front page of the

Scarborough Evening News.

This was only the beggining for Jay R as his journey then took him to Leeds Metropolitan University after passing the course in Scarborough.

He enrolled on a BHons course PMP (Popular Music Production)

Enduring a course of music production in a completely different form.

From learning to play different instruments to settibg up a full orchestra for recording Jays learning intake for music grew a lot bigger than he antispated. Through attending University some of the modules explained how making yourself a marketable product would increase your chances of being heard.

Having taken this on board through the first two years of university Jay R had the oppurtunity to do a work placement for his third year in America at Capital Records Miami Florida. Already having family in Michigan the placement was a dead cert.. 

He then traveled to stay in the United States for 8 weeks a term of placement. In doing the place ment Jay R was able to form a network circle through the work he was doing at Capital this led to him networking with a Dj by the name of WhizzKid (Coast2Coast mixtapes Dj) a Dj which puts together mixtape Cds of different artists/producers from different states in America and Jay R saw this as an oppurtunity to insist to be the first producer on a coast2coast mixtape from outside the United States
