"He was already playing bass in local bands at the age of 15 when he was kicked out of school after being ratted on by for boozing in the school yard. Abandoning the USA for London in his late teens, Jacques spent a few years squatting in Brixton, experimenting with "psychedelics and music" and busking on the streets. To quote Charles Dickens, "It was the best of times, it was the worst of times..." - Fred Perry (https://www.fredperry.com/us/subculture/article-jacques-labouchere)
“…every aspect of Labouchere’s life is fair game. It’s a testament to his talent that he manages to make it all come together so seamlessly.”
– The Daily News
“Jacques is so good at writing both lyrics and music. A top-notch singer/songwriter, tackling difficult and sometimes painfully personal subjects in such a compelling manner.”
– AltSounds
“…a captivating artist who has had the chance to live in three different countries and each has in fact become synonymous with a specific stage in his life.”
– The Rock & Roll Report
“The man has plenty more to mine from his experiences and, indeed, his future.”
– Soundblab
Jacques Labouchere is also a notable resident of the now permanently closed The Chelsea Hotel of New York, New York, U.S.A.
