Hailing from Hackney East London, J.Appiah is a fast-rising, Urban Alternative, singer and songwriter who is truly making an impact on the UK scene with his: nonchalant musicality, understatedly intelligent lyricism and touching vocals.

J.Appiah has released 2 critically acclaimed EPs; 2013’s ‘Stduiocoustic’ featuring the single “I Ain’t Rich Yet”, which made the BBC 1Xtra introducing playlist. The EP was heavily championed by online tastemakers, including SBTV, Soul Culture, MTV Wrap Up, Flavourmag, 4 music and We are SME. The stunning “I Ain’t Rich Yet” video featuring J’s friend and supporter, French international footballer Florent Malouda, Raised the bar even further with play listing on Channel 4 music, Sunday Brunch and Vevo.

In 2014 J.Appiah stepped things up a level with his classy sophomore E.P “Travelight”. The 4 track offering truly showcased J as a complete artist, drawing on his Folk, R&B and Reggae influences. The lead single was the hypnotic “Rabbit Hole” with its driving minimalist simplicity.

The theme of simplicity id echoed in the songs amazing video. A visually engrossing, high concept film which sees a focused looking J.Appiah running through deserted London streets with no edits for the 3 minute duration of the song.

J is also an accomplished topline writer, with co-writing credits with Warner, Sony ATV and Universal.

J has spent 2015 writing towards his new solo project as well as working with Artists including Jess Glynne, Kwabs, Ella Henderson and Maverick Sabre as a backing vocalist.
