The single reached a global audience with currently over 450k streams on Spotify and charted all over the world on iTunes Alternative Chart (including the Number 1 spot in Argentina). It gained the support of key International tastemakers such as Zane Lowe who premiered “Long Way Down” on his Beats1 show and Huw Stephens has played “Dreaming Of Another Girl” on Radio 1 on several occasions.
Key blog support has come from the likes of Clash Music, DIY Magazine and Wonderland….
Simple, rollicking guitar rock and Jagger-nodding showmanship rules the roost for these Londoners, their Dreaming of Another Girl song giving indication of a nostalgia-ridden band on a mission. DIY Magazine
'Long Way Down' is buoyed by an Ennio Morricone-esque guitar line, with the raspy vocals set against some hard-as-nails work from the band. CLASH
With strained, characterful vocals that could be likened to any of rock and roll’s legends and danceability that comes from somewhere deeper than the electronic thuds we’re used to, Hidden Charms are welcome breath of whiskeyed cigarette smoke. Wonderland Magazine
So here are the mandatory details. They are from London, and there are four of them: Vincent Davies, the 20-year-old singer, guitarist and bassist; Ranald Macdonald, the 21-year-old co-singer, keyboardist, guitarist and bassist; 21-year-old Josh Lewis on guitar and bass; and 21-year-old Oscar Robertson on drums.
At first, the four of them were in two separate acts that gravitated toward one another under the conviction they had something together that, separately, they did not. They played their first ever gig in April 2014; fast forward to October 2015 they now have 100 gigs under their belts in over 11 countries, supporting acts such as Benjamin Booker, Hanni El Khatib, AWOLNATION, July Talk, Festival appearances at Reading & Leeds, Bestival, Isle of Wight and recently just completed a 4 week Residency at the legendary Koko for Club NME.
The next single “Love You Cause You’re There” has already picked up early Radio support from Annie Mac (Radio 1), Huw Stephens (Radio 1, Gary Crowley (BBC Introducing) and John Kennedy (Radio X) who likened the production to that of Danger Mouse working with the Black Keys. The track’s producer Mr Chop having worked with MF Doom has something in Common with the esteemed Black Keys producer. The band spent 4 days at Mr Chops APE Studio in The Wirral and will be heading back there next month to finish off the EP due to be released in Early 2016.
The second single “Love You Cause You’re There” will be co-released by B3SCI (Jungle / INHEAVEN / Beach Baby) and the re-launched Deltasonic Records (The Coral / The Zutons / The Dead 60’s) on November 13 worldwide on Ltd Edition 7” vinyl and digitally.
