Within 6 months of forming, the band had won Norwich's Next Big Thing competition (previous winners inc. Ed Sheeran). On the back of this the band signed with NROne records and released their debut album "This One Girl" in April 2011 which was met with rave reviews from magazines and blogs alike. The singles from this album received airplay on BBC Radio 6 and Amazing Radio, amongst others, from DJs including Tom Robinson, Steve Lamacq and Beth Elfyn. Internationally, the band has received extensive play on New York-based Breakthru Radio, performing a number of full live sessions for the station. Hello Bear have toured the UK on a number of occasions and have played festivals including Liverpool Sound City and Playfest (Norfolk). They have supported and shared stages with the likes of Los Campesinos, Kill it Kid, Shonen Knife, Darwin Deez, Frank Turner, Mark Morriss (The Bluetones) and Josh Doyle (The Dum Dums). The band have played a Sony-curated event at Notting Hill Arts Club along with shows at many iconic London venues, including 93 Feet East and Nambucca. 2014 has seen the band release their 2nd album "Watch Out, It's That One Guy" on Eightbyeight Records, with radio support from BBC Introducing in Norfolk and various internet radio stations aiding its promotion. The band have seen interest from labels such as Alcopop and IHT Records.

Hello Bear are currently recording their 3rd album (titled "Next Time We'll Be Deadly Serious Next Time") at popular professional Recording Studio "Regal House" with producer Lee Batiuk (Deaf Havana). They're also half way through writing material for their 4th album.
