The Mage, The Wiseman and The Lioness: Part 1 | EP | 2013 |
Music that tells stories. Music that makes you want to walk barefoot through the woods with your hair billowing in the breeze. Music that makes you think that maybe, just maybe... magic really could exist.
Helghyer (Pronounced Hell-hear) is the solo project of multi-instrumentalist Natalie Earl. Her debut EP 'The Mage, The Wiseman and The Lioness: Part 2' was released in December 2014 and has already received airplay from The Tom Robinson Show on BBC 6Music, The BBC Introducing Mixtape, BBC Introducing Berkshire and Bob's Folk Show. Helghyer was also featured in The Unsigned Guide's December Spotlight 2014.
Her quirky art-rock/indie-folk sound, (influenced by Elliott Smith, Bright Eyes, Pixies, Pavement, Neutral Milk Hotel etc) has been described as “a cross between Joni Mitchell and Kate Bush” and “Tolkien-esque” with “stunningly precise harmonies”, and intertwining guitar lines that create a “perfectly decorated sound-scape.” She is of Cornish descent and the name ‘Helghyer’ comes from the Cornish word for "Hunter,"
Helghyer toured extensively throughout 2013/14, visiting Leeds, Manchester, Bristol and London amongst others.
