Drawing from his multi-cultural heritage, Gurumiran mimics duduk, oud, bouzouki, and saz with a signature effect-drenched guitar, with kaleidoscopic compositions that blend belly-dance percussions and electronic soundscapes “reminiscent of Radiohead, Depeche Mode, and New Order”. Topped with magnetic performances and “theatrical vocals a la David Bowie and Nick Cave”, Guru entices audiences live creating a loyal fanbase who are kept on their feet never knowing what comes next.
Gurumiran’s upcoming album builds on the experience of his debut LP Aberrance (2015) and continues to explore fresh sonic possibilities. Recent singles Man Who Sold Eldunya (an Arabic tribute of Bowie’s Man Who Sold the World) and Armenian folk Hingala stunned even Gurumiran’s most avid fans where sounds in English, Arabic, and Armenian fuse seamlessly for an unrivaled and fascinating experience.
