GRAVE DIGGERS UNION is the studio project of Nik Brierley and Michael Whalley.

Unlike most bands, the song writing process and recording process
aren't separate processes. This is an unusual work ethic for a lot of bands but for GDU
this is what keeps it fun. Just turning up at the studio with absolutely nothing planned,
setting up the instruments, hitting record and seeing what happens...

In the studio the pair share duties on all the instruments, the only exception to this is
that Whalley always plays the drums and Brierley always sings the lyrics. Outside of
this, anything goes. On the live stage, Brierley plays synths and sings and Whalley
plays the drums.

Brierley has been schooled in 80's pop since birth because his parents are HUGE 80's
pop fans! Whalley on the other hand has been immersed in 80s pop culture whilst
working as a touring technician for the likes of Echo & The Bunnymen, Johnny
Marr (The Smiths) and Spandau Ballet. Whalley has also been working close
with fellow Manchester post punk revivalists, IST IST as the producer on their
singles and EPs.
