Goedlaak is an international collective of musicians - composers and performers based in The Hague, NL.

The collective was established in 2013. Originally, we come from Holland, Israel, Hungary, Spain and Romania.

Goedlaak's artistic agenda is:

- Composition, performance and promotion of New music;
- Premiere of own compositions and by other young composers;
- New audiences: through interactive concepts with the audience (Playground; Homeless music; Zoom in);
- Interdisciplinary creation: video, new media, visual art, theater, dance and movement as an integrated part of the music;
- Between the individual an the collective: group composition, improvisation and creation along side personal artistic motivations;
- Cross media artistic output: navigating between written music, instant composition, improvised, game piece, text scores and other methods and disciplines.
- Research of new languages: bridges between new music / new audience / interactivity / alternative concert settings / written improvised / multidisciplinarity / cross-media

During 2013 - 2014 Goedlaak was resident in Laak Theater, The Hague. The residency included a monthly concert series incorporating collaborations with Laak Quartier's inhabitants. Among them children and youth, elderly theater groups, amateur choirs and musicians, dancers, poets, artists and more.
Goedlaak participated in many events and festivals in Laak Theater, including Smaak van Laak, and have become a cohesive part of the neighborhood social - cultural landscape. Taking part in many communal events and creating networks between the neighborhood to music students and The Hague's experimental / alternative young music scene.

This ongoing intensive activity in Laak Theater and Laak Quartier emerged from Goedlaak's agenda for creating music and art within the community we live in. We believe music making should be connects to its surroundings and human sources. Our activity within the neighborhood resolved in many new, creative and unusual exchanges of thoughts, ideas and creations, considering the rare combination of art makers and lovers we've managed to bring together.
The relation has been symbiotic and fruitful thanks to the open minded character and will to explore each others view on art, music and life.

Goedlaak's activity in Laak Theater and Laak kwartier included among others Goedlaak Concert series, Smaak van Laak Festival, Kleurrijk Festival, Strandwal Festival and Rijswijks Pracht Festival.

Moreover in our activity in The Hague, is Goedlaak's yearly performance in 'Nacht van de Hoop' Festival. In 2014 Goedlaak performed all through the night our own musical version for the Jewish Passover dinner, including new compositions inspired by Passover dinner traditional Jewish music, musical interactive games with the audience, cooking traditional food, music theater and more.

As musicians, our artistic practice expresses in various ways: performing, composing , improvising, using our own musical instruments - Strings, Winds, Voice and more. Integrated with other art forms like theater, dance, fine arts, video, text or different media into our musical creation. Along side the social-cultural character of our activity, our identity forms by ongoing artistic collaborations and corresponding within the Goedlaak group, experimenting and developing own languages of expression using music, and other performative and artistic means.
