In the summer of 2015 the band released a trilogy of singles showcasing an aesthetic of cascading layers, riotous drums and soft melodious vocals.
'’This Is Heaven’ saw Galants merge Bob Mouldish jangled hooks and melodic undertones within a textural noise bedrock and was marked out by Nialler9 as a "track of the week" in The Irish Times. ‘Seventeen’ caught the attention of Hot Press Magazine who named the song as ‘single of the fortnight’. Following on from this, ‘Out of Sight’ was singled out for praise on BBC Ulster’s Across the Line and Dan Hegarty on RTE 2FM.
Galants is originally the brainchild of David Kennedy. Having moved to Dublin from London he was struck by the vibrant DIY indie culture of the city and set about finding like minded Creation-era 90s-influenced alternative guitar souls. The road eventually led to the meeting of drummer James McDonald, formerly of Belfast noiseniks Yakuza and bassist Colin O’Dwyer (Skyward Rifles / TheDaysOfYourLife) who helped steer the band in more sonically-clear territory.
Galants appeared at Hard Working Class Heroes in October 2014 and have followed this up with a string of live dates across Ireland as they seek to cement a place in the Irish indie community.
The band is currently working on a debut EP set for release in the second half of 2016.
