David Mengual is a Barcelona based bass player, composer and pianist, one of the most respected Spanish musicians and pedagogues.

Along with his artistic activity he teaches at the Liceu Conservatory in Barcelona since 2003. He has awarded several prizes as Best Spanish Jazz Record by “Monkiana” (1996) and “Des d’aqui” (1999), by Cuadernos de Jazz Magazine. Best double bass of the year by Catalan Musicians Association on years 2002, 2004, 2005 and 2006, and best composer on 2005 and 2011.
SLOW QUARTET “U” (2013) could be the inheritance of Mengual’s previous work “Maitia”, with new original pieces written with the aim of offering an excuse to project the personality of each and every musician and turning it into a slow, sincere and ephemeral dialogue. Pintxo Villar, Toni Vaquer and Oriol Roca fulfill this need thanks to their personal and musical affinity as well as their enormous talent and sensitivity,
