Songs that soften your bones, stir your memories and spark up your soul.
Coves & Caves took their first tentative steps in early 2010. With James and Gavin’s previous endeavour My Side of the Mountain having a snooze and a stint playing backing band with the great Magic Arm a distant memory, it was time to bang some new pots and pans.
First Andrew, then Steve and finally Billy were welcomed into the fold. The plan was to make a bunch of big, beautiful and slightly wonky pop songs – and after six months of tinkering and thrashing around above a barber shop in Stockport, a little bit of magic started to happen.
The following year found Coves & Caves supporting the likes of Other Lives, Big Deal and Papercuts, getting plenty of spins on the wireless and recording a session for the legendary Daytrotter. Feeling chipper and a perhaps a little over ambitious, the band set out to record and release their debut album – in the space of just three short months.
Two years later and two band members down (a fond farewell to Steve and Billy), that debut album has finally arrived in the shape of 'Spinnerets'. Now it's time for James, Gavin and Andrew to come back out to play.
Coves & Caves take a softly, softly approach then lodge themselves firmly in your hearts and minds. Sit back, jump around, whatever – just wait and let it happen.
