The Looking Glass Self | Album | 2014 |
From funk to fusion, punk to progressive and rock to reggae, Choc Électrique have blended their musicians' diverse interests to create something that is truly theirs... the peculiar but phenomenal Choc Électrique sound.
The band recently embarked on a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds for their debut album, 'The Looking Glass Self'. Incredibly, over £2,000 was raised in just 19 days allowing the band to record, mix and master the album in 9 days in Parr Street Studios. 'The Looking Glass Self' was launched at The Zanzibar, Liverpool, on Friday 17 October 2014.
"Full of musical twists and turns that compliment each other, flaunting the clever expertise of the band's experienced contingents. It is far from pompous or full of one-upmanship, it’s a band loving what they do, doing it extremely well. Every song has been carefully pieced together so effortlessly that you can actually hear the hard work that has gone into crafting this thoroughly enjoyable album." - The Music Manual
"Think the solemn themes of the Editors with a hefty dose of electric drive. More than this, Choc Électrique have blended influences of funk, punk and reggae and created a mad and experimental sound ... The five-piece is not without humour, the dark comedy found in ‘Greedy Jesus’’ vocals (and all over their website) are downright British. Cynicism and irony is where we revel, and this band has defined the often melancholic happiness of life ... The band’s clear passion for their music is clear during their live performances. A punk-like rebellion mixed with a heartfelt love for the fans is what’s making this band one to watch. It is starkly honest music to rock to." - Liverpool Noise
Choc Électrique are now looking for gigs, festivals and other opportunities in 2015.
