Contemporary European Jazz Initiative
What?
The Contemporary European Jazz Initiative! is a platform for contemporary European jazz musicians, initiated by jazz singer, composer and lyricist Angelica Matveeva from the independent record label Chan Puma House.
Why?
The strategic goals with the Contemporary European Jazz Initiative! are:
- to map, present and promote contemporary European jazz music as a full-fledged and clearly recognizable musical art form
- to map, present and promote contemporary European jazz musicians who are composing and writing their own, new jazz music (from year 2000 and to the present day)
- to build an audience informed about, interested in and – hopefully – excited about present-day European jazz music
- to dismantle the big myths that jazz music is either old-fashioned or difficult
- to demonstrate that jazz music is extraordinarily diverse and unquestionably gorgeous!
How does it work?
Every single day we publish a short interview with a European Jazz Artist or Band, and let you listen to one of their songs.
When?
The project's start is planned for January 2015.
