Cat Ballou machte zunächst Pop-Rock mit hochdeutschen Texten wie auf ihrem Debut-Album „neulich“, welches Anfang 2012 erschienen ist. Im vergangenen Jahr veröffentlichten die Jungs dann den Song „Et jitt kei Wood“ und erschafften DIE neue Kölnhymne. Erstmals war die Band dann auch in den offiziellen bundesweiten Verkaufscharts von Media Control vertreten und kletterte in den Single Charts bis auf Platz 47. Das Video von „Et jitt kei Wood“ wurde auf youtube bereits über 1.000.000 x angeklickt. Der Song ist sowohl beim 1.FC Köln als auch bei den Kölner Haien bei jedem Spiel fester Bestandteil.LOKALPATRIOT landete Anfang 2014 auf Platz 49 der Deutschen Albumcharts, “Et jitt kei Wood” und “Hück steiht de Welt still” charteten in der selben Woche auf Platz 29 und 71 in den Deutschen Singlecharts.

„Lokalpatriot“ ist eine Verneigung vor Köln („Ming Stadt“, „Et jitt kei Wood“), geht natürlich um die Liebe („Zom Jlöck“, „Do luurs zo“, “Novemberrään“) und animiert zum Feiern und einfach Spaß und gute Laune haben („Hück steiht die Welt still“, „Fahr mit mir an’t Meer“, „Morjens öm 4“). Besonders Augenmerk verdient auch die Situationsbeschreibung vom „Brüsseler Platz“, bei der Comedian Bernd Stelter in die Rolle des Ordnungsamts schlüpfte und den Text einsprach. Musikalisch ist der Band mit ihrem Produzenten Matthias Stingl ein Meisterwerk gelungen.

Es gibt derzeit keine kölsche Band, die musikalisch so sehr am Puls der Zeit produziert und auch anderen nationalen und internationalen Pop-Rock Produktionen das Wasser reichen kann. Bundesweit blüht die Kultur wieder auf, der Dialekt lebt.

Since 11.08.2013 is the second studio album "Lokalpatriot" of the newcomer band CAT BALLOU released. Cat Ballou, which are Oliver Niesen, Dominik Schönenborn, Kevin Wittwer and Michael Kraus have been playing together since 1999.
