From lisbon Fado, traditionally known to be born from a mariner chant, to Milonga, Vals or argentinian Tango, from mexican Rancheras to cuban Habanera, reaching classical neapolitan songbook, the travels of people in the history of these countries were crucials to determine sound and theme similarity between these musical genres. The musical repertoire includes songs by Luisa Notarangelo author, singer and creator of Canti Migranti project, edited in the album Terras de Portugal (2014), songs from italian maritime tradition and songs by well-known american-latin composer such as Carlos Gardel, Sebastian Iradier, Abundio Martinez, J.C.Cobián, Canti Migranti is a musical journey among cultures whom inherited and integrated literary and musical traditions of europe, blending them together, and for this reason have got many touch points as well as in a melting pot. The anthropological studies of chilean Miguel Angel Vera Sepulveda (1999) about musical genres of seaports (Tango, Fado, Ranchera, Vals Criollo, Vals Porteño, Bolero) have highlighted that trait d'union of these genres is the framework of marginality, working-class people and prostitution, linked to daily life close to the ports; recursive themes are: jelousy, betrayal, abandon, the feeling of fatalism and nostalgia for an unlivable love, disreputable locations, crime, neighborhood life, the departures and nostalgia for own distant homeland. Canti Migranti live project was born by January 2017 from the artistic collaboration between Luisa Notarangelo and the guitarist Christian Cassano, with the will to promote the musical tradition of seaport music genres. That has required a careful study for arranging the proposed songs (arrangements are edited by Christian Cassano). The project debuted as duo (voice/guitar) in September 2017. Canti Migranti will also be the title of the second studio recorded EP of Luisa Notarangelo, which will include five original unedited tracks, inspired by musical genres of this live project, particularly linked to fado and tango.
