The fusion of Argentinian tango and electronic music in Budapest.

The modern tango music played by Budapest Aires is the fusion of acoustic instruments and electronic music genres like hip-hop, ambient, dub, glitch and dubstep, seasoned with a tint of grandiose symphonic sound and traditional Hungarian instruments like the cimbalom and the violin.
The composers of the band are István Kerek (violin) and Tibor Lázár (electronics). István Kerek was the lead violinist and arranger of Quartett Escualo and other tango orchestras for more than a decade. In the last 20 years he composed a great number of pieces for theaters, worked as the concert master and soloist of numerous symphonic orchestras; cooperated with the legendary Hungarian rock band Omega, and arranged music for the world famous Hungarian coloratura soprano Erika Miklósa. Tibor Lázár has become a well-known musician as the drummer of Zagar, one of the flagships of the Hungarian electronic music scene. In the meantime, Lázár released his solo album under the alias Occam for an international audience, and produced the album Hundred Arms by Manoya, which won the Best Alternative Album award in the Hungarian music awards, Fonogram, in 2013.
Other members of the ensemble are accordionist Katalin Agnecz, who has been a significant musician of the Hungarian tango community. Bálint Kovács is the master of Latin American acoustic guitar music. The link between the instrumentalists and the electronics is DJ Bootsie, whose solo albums are the foundations of Hungarian hip-hop music.
As music and dance are inseparable in tango, dancers usually accompany the ensemble on their concerts. Passion, deep emotions, drama and dance take the stage in the costume of the 21st Century.
