2006: BRZZVLL is founded by Vincent Brijs.

The band has from the outset five to six members, mainly from Antwerp, and plays improvised dance music with a jazz-fusion, afro funk and rare groove sound like those of the 70's: bass and drums very tight and funky, horns, guitar and keyboards very imaginative and sexy. Each song floats in a very playful mood to groove .

Although initially the repertoire consists of compositions by Herbie Hancock, Eddie Harris, Freddie Hubbard and Archie Shepp, expanded or complemented by "free jams", the live set is soon filled with original compositions of frontman Brijs.

2007: BRZZVLL are the winners of the competition Young Jazz Talent Ghent.

2008: the debut album "Days of Thunder, Days Of Grace" appears on Evil Penguin Records. The album features contributions from Zap Mama's Marie Daulne, DJ Grazzhoppa & Monique Harcum. The album gets very good reviews in The Standard, Focus Knack and Rif Raf. The Brussels newspaper Le Soir exclaims the album as the best Belgian jazz album of 2008.

2008: live recordings for the Belgian TV channel Exqi and the jazz program ‘Neve’ on Klara (VRT). BRZZVLL also opens the Ghent Jazz Festival before The Neville Brothers and Marcus Miller, the concert is wildly received by the press. Later that year they go on tour for Jazzlab Series and they play warm up shows for Al Jarreau, UB40 and Youngblood Brass Band.

2009: BRZZVLL is the regular house band of the 'Nuff Said evenings, with spoken word, stand up comedy and literature, monthly at the Cultural Centre of Berchem (Antwerp). This allows them to play together with renowned national and international artists such as Joseph Bowie (Defunkt), Amir Sulaiman, Jessica Care Moore, Anthony Joseph, Zena Edwards, Ayanna Witter Johnson, Baloji, Mo & Grazz, Sharrif Simmons, Kain the Poet (The Last Poets ) and many others. The Cooperation with 'Nuff Said founder and organizer Mourad Bekour still maintains.

2010: release of the second album "Happy Life Creator" on the German label Melting Pot Music (Cologne). Gregory Frateur of Dez Mona and the Swiss-Ghanaian Joy Frempong, better known as Oy, perform guest roles. BRZZVLL produced the album itself in cooperation with the renowned Ben Lamdin (Nostalgia 77, Tru Thoughts, UK) and Werner Pensaert. The album gets excellent reviews, including in the German newspaper Der Tages Spiel. In the Netherlands, HLC is the highest rated album in the 3 for 12 listening post of the VPRO.

2011: the striking cover for "Happy Life Creator" (designed by Afreux in collaboration with BRZZVLL & friends) is nominated for the Belgian Music Industry Awards (MIA's) in the category 'best artwork'.

2012: sweaty! with programs before The Roots in the Open Air Theater Rivierenhof (Antwerp), and collaborations with the German-American Ursula Rucker (known for its releases on! K7), Anthony Joseph and many others. BRZZVLL also works with the Belgian artist Stijn and the young rapper Gloria from Ghent, with whom they open Couleur Café in 2011 in Brussels.

2013: third album Polemicals

2014: release of succesful fourth album Engines feat. Anthony Joseph

The cooperation with Joseph on Nuff Said is so obvious that after three concerts they decide to make an album together.
Anthony Joseph is a poet, novelist, academic and musician. He was born in Trinidad, moving to the UK in 1989. He is the author of three collections of poetry and a novel, The African Origins of UFOs. As a musician he has released three critically acclaimed albums with his band the Spasm band; all released to coincide with book publications.
Joseph has also collaborated with several artists including Archie Shepp, Joseph Bowie, Laurent Garnier, Othello Molineaux, Malcolm Catto, Mop Mop, Robert Aaron, Roger Raspail, Keziah Jones and Jerry Dammers of the Specials as part of the Spatial AKA Orchestra. His latest album "Time" was produced by none other than Me'shell Ndgeocello and has recently (February 2014) been released on Heavenly Sweetness.

2015-2016 : the band is currently finishing their new fifth album now, that will be released early february 2016. On this album, they have collaborated with poets Amir Sulaiman and Shariff Simmons. More news very soon!

Plan is to release shortly after this, still in 2016, a new fully instrumental album that goes back to the origins of BRZZVLL, playing improvised dance music with a jazz-fusion, funk and rare groove sound like those of the 70’s: bass and drums very tight and funky, horns, guitar and keyboards very imaginative and sexy.
BRZZVLL's future looks shiny and bright!
