Influenced by an eclectic mix of musical genres, the Leicestershire-based seven-piece Bluebird Parade plays original indie rock/pop/jazz/folk/blues that is difficult to categorise but easy to fall in love with.
The line-up features songwriter Jon Read, the former trumpet player for the Specials who has graced the stage with some of the greats of the ska and reggae scene - Prince Buster, Laurel Aitken, Derrick Morgan, Dawn Penn, Susan Cadogan, et al. But Bluebird Parade is a collective project, with guitars, keyboards, rhythm and brass working together to shape each song, and ex-pat New Yorker Ming Nagel's haunting vocals providing a perfect foil for the shifting soundscape on stage. The band have just released their second studio album, Songs from the Headland (October 2015), described by @horacepanterart as “Intelligent, articulate and funky…exquisite music”.
