From Reykjavik but residing in Los Angeles where the duo have spent most of this year writing and recording music for their new project which could be described as a bold fusion of electronic music and R&B with a core of sturdy pop songwriting and deeply personal lyrics.
Before Blissful, Einar (Mega) and Svala (Kali) were part of the trio Steed Lord, along with Einar’s brother Eddi (Demo) . Before Steed Lord was formed, singer/songwriter Svala Björgvinsdóttir had become a household name in the Icelandic music scene, especially after releasing her 2001 album The Real Me. In 1999, Svala signed a six-album deal with EMI and Priority Records. The record deal was one of the biggest deals ever made with an Icelandic recording artist. Her debut album The Real Me was released in the fall of 2001 with the title single "The Real Me" which charted on the Billboard top 40 singles chart. The Real Me became a platinum selling album in Iceland and was also very well received in Germany, Spain and Japan.
Starting in 2006, Steed Lord played a few shows in their native Reykjavík, and within months they were being booked to perform over Europe and North America. They have played
in Portugal, France, Italy, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, Denmark, Sweden, and the United
Kingdom. During their tour of North America, they performed in concerts with artists such
as Chromeo, Girl Talk, Vampire Weekend, Klever, and Does It Offend You, Yeah?. In the fall of 2009,
Steed Lord was asked to open for Peaches for a run of dates in Southern California.
In 2007, Steed Lord was commissioned by Sweden-based retail giant H&M to design a line for
their Divided (label) label. The Steed Lord / H&M designs were available in more than 50 countries.
Additionally, Steed Lord is part of WeSC's “We Activist” program, and is featured in the print and video campaigns for the Swedish streetwear brand. Svala also has her line “Kali”
Blissful is the couples new endeavor where they put all their past experience into one and have gotten amazing review.
