Their EP was released in July 2014 and tracks from it have been played regularly on BBC Introducing with rave reviews from DJ Christian Carlisle. He described their sound… ‘The fusion of genres - folk, pop-punk with post hardcore vocals – really shouldn’t work but it so does… perfectly. I love it!’
One of their songs featured in BBC Sheffield's Top 50 Tracks of 2014. They were recently featured on the Mark Forrest show where their music was played on all 39 BBC radio stations around the UK.
Most of Black Thorn’s material is original, and their influences are diverse (Seth Lakeman, Calvin Harris and even Bullet For My Valentine!) They use mandolin, accordion, guitars, bass, trumpet, percussion, beat-boxing and vocal harmonies.
