*** REVIEWS *** Headliners tonight are Black Russian from Worcester who treat us to a display of seriously muscular rock.

Another fine rhythm section is on display now as JB on bass and Tom on drums lay down a solid beat while also contributing quality backing vocals. Singer Alex's voice has both range and power, the latter being an essential quality to rise above the heavy duty riffage rushing off stage. Said riffage is provided by Stokes on guitar - they're big, these riffs and so is the man delivering them and he looks as if he's having a whale of a time. He's highly animated of movement and facial expression and his cheesy grin when he feeds the opening riff into the looper on the final track and stands there doing a 'look ma, no hands' impression is worth the entrance fee on its own. Fine player.

Difficult to pick a standout track, but I think 'Undone' just about shades it.

Geoffrey Head, Two Rivers, Cheltenham.

"For me, the name "Black Russian" conjures up a distant memory of a cocktail once enjoyed, which was rich and flamboyant in character and when finished, left you wanting more. So no pressure here then for the next band on stage to living up to their namesake.

Black Russian took to the stage and straight from the off, set out to put on a show of solid no nonsense rock and roll. Alexandra Rudman, and her unyielding vocals, made each song count and combined with the intensity of the band in their performance, I can happily concur, they certainly picked the right name!"

- Emma Scott

“What an amazing voice from front girl Alex of the amazing Black Russian. I've got a feeling their new CD 'Grind', coming out very soon, with songs such as Revolver and Hollywood, is going to be a real trick!”
— Andy O' Hare , BBC Radio

"Black Russian certainly know how to please an audience without even playing. With their excellent chemistry as a band, they’re strutting a proper rock’n’roll performance that’s so intense the drummer manages to snap a drumstick in half!"

- Sean Raffety, Hevypetal

"A hard rock band with their own kind of attitude and a purposeful sense of lyricism. Vocalist, Alex, has a unbelievable voice that floats somewhere between a soul singer and a beautiful scream. The textures within her range are very similar to female rock stars such as Nancy Wilson, Patti Smith and Joan Jett.

We get some fabulous riffs and solos. This made for intricate, yet heavy melodies, the guitarists gave the performance of a lifetime.

“Playing the Fool” was a highlight of the set, with its thudding rhythm, fast pace and vocals bursting with sass. “Snake Eyes” followed close behind with some amazing finger work on the bass.

Towards the end of their set, the 5-piece tell us that they are currently recording their album, which should be out in February. Do yourself a favour – go buy it!"

- Gemma Cornell, Rainy Skies Magazine.

''Brilliant, Fantastic, Superb!"

- Andrew Marston, BBC Radio.

"Dirty, ballsy and authentic sleaze rock...one of the best rock vocalists I have heard in the last ten years!"

- Johnny Doom, Kerrang Radio.
