TARTARUS | EP | 2013 |
Her debut original EP “TARTARUS”, a 6-track concept project combining traditional thrash with influences from flamenco and jazz, was released on October 1st 2013 and featured guest appearances from multi-instrumentalist and singer Simon Duthilleul Vannucci (Nibirus, ~Obsession~) and singer/songwriter Kaya Labonte-Hurst..
In summer 2014, BARBORA brought together a live band consisting of multi-instrumentalist Edwin Jack-Chapman and drummer James Wise, to begin working on her next project ENIGMA, and to play live shows. The band took London & Essex by storm with their unique and experimental blend of metal, jazz, and insane time signatures.
On December 25th 2014, the band released an instrumental metal version of Wham!'s "Last Christmas", releasing the track digitally via Bandcamp and Soundcloud.
In December 2015, they released their debut album, ENIGMA.
----
EDWIN JACK-CHAPMAN is a London-based guitarist, arranger, producer and composer. He studied BMus (Hons) in Popular Music Performance in Guitar at London’s prestigious ICMP, graduating with First Class honours in 2015. His versatility of playing, and mastery of styles as wide ranging as classical, funk and gypsy jazz, has enabled him to easily pick up additional instruments such as the saxophone and the bass guitar, the latter of which he practically shreds in his work with Barbora.
----
Coming from a very musical background, it was inevitable that JAMES WISE would one day pick up on an instrument; that instrument turned out to be the drums. James is a predominantly self taught drummer, and although he played blues and rock for the majority of his early career thanks to his guitarist father, he stumbled across metal in his early teens. He invested in a double bass pedal and never looked back.
Being influenced by drummers such as Alex Rudinger, Thomas Lang and Marco Minnemann, as well as bands such as The Faceless, Foo Fighters and Avenged Sevenfold, James strives to perfect his playing and settles for nothing less. His experience gigging also means that he is more than comfortable performing what he does in the studio on the stage.
James Wise is an official Pellwood Drumsticks artist.
