Petrichor | Album | 2016 |
In 2013 she released the EP 'Myriad', a collection of five intimate folk songs. Two years laters, in 2015, followed the first album called 'Petrichor'. A bittersweet record about saying goodbye and starting anew. Both records were released on Belgian label Zeal Records.
During the Petrichor tour Astronaute played support shows for Damien Jurado, Belgian festivals Little Waves and Pukkelpop and numerous support slots in local venues such as Botanique, Ancienne Belgique, STUK, Depot, 4AD, ...
Luyten is currently working on a second album. During the Petrichor tour the band played as a four piece, but now the band has been reduced to a duo, Luyten and Bert Hornikx. Together they wrote music for the piece 'VUUR' of theatre company 'het nieuwstedelijk'. The focus of the new record is on interaction and intuition. The provisional nameless second album is an interplay between drums, vocals, guitar and electronics. It's about the tension (or lack thereof) between abstract and concrete, between silences and stories.
They will be recording the new record in Berlin in February with Joris Caluwaerts (STUFF, Magnus). In the past Luyten has worked with Bob Hermans (Amatorksi, Few Bits), Christophe Vandewoude (Isbells).
