Showcasing an impressive vocal capacity which knows no bound, her sound described by The Line of Best Fit as “restricted & subdued like a caged animal” was formed under which were formed a very unique array of circumstances, and following the death of her sister through suicide. The outcome of this is stirring, emotionally-charged music which cuts to the core and acclaimed by online tastemakers such as VICE ‘The Creators Project’, Disco Naiveté, Indie Shuffle & Kaltblut Magazine.
Amani’s dynamic & highly expressive vocals range between a jazz infused rasp to something much more angelic & ethereal; sitting juxtaposed against a backdrop of experimental electronica & cinematic soundscapes.
Her debut EP ‘Perpendicular’ was released through London based label PBR towards the end of 2017 and launched at a sell-out Rye Wax show, sponsored by Smirnoff.
A master in every aspect of her artistry, Amani composes her own songs, creates the artwork & is heavily involved in all of the production of her music. A talented live entity, performing with her band incorporating electronic & live drums with synths a mini harp & double bass, she has performed sets at Lee Fest (alongside Kate Tempest, Jake Bugg & Annie Mac), Shanghai Fashion Week and supported the likes of Fifi Rong and The Bloom Twins. 2018 sees her debut at Sofar Sounds in Krakow and a brand new EP in the pipeline.
‘Amani’s candid & haunting new video visualises an abstracted version of the musician’s body.’ – Vice Creators II 'It's powerful, graceful and addictive, complemented by Amani’s haunting, delicious rasp.’ – Dash Majesty II ‘It’s powerful, raw and deeply emotional’ – The Most Radicalist II ‘It takes a lot to surprise us here, consistently climbing a Mt Everest-size pile of emails from artists all over the globe, but this one got us hard.’ - Pilerats
