Since then his starving artist status hasn't changed, but his postcode has.
Recent years have seen him playing the bars of Berlin, tread the boards at London's Ronnie Scott's, top bills at music festivals in Italy, busk on street corners in Dublin and tour the United States supporting American rock band Darling Waste.
2016 see's the release of his third album Night Music. Recorded in South London with producer Aneek Thapar; Night Music is a collection of songs inspired by London and its nocturnal inhabitance.
Prior to the release of Night Music, Alan Bonner has toured extensively across the UK, Ireland, Europe, Australia and the USA. He has received airplay on BBC6 Music and MTV Italy, and appeared in Grazia, Gay Times, Attitude, Time Out London and RTE Ireland. He has also previously released two other albums; 2008's Songs for the Heartshaped and 2012's Balladeer to favourable reviews.
What the press have said:
"Mr Bonner has the means of a pauper but sings with the heart of a king" SURVIVING THE GOLDEN AGE
"A masterful songwriter" GAY TIMES
"A masterful songwriter. The music itself tends to play second fiddle to Bonner's impeccable voice – it brinks on Bowie, Bombadil and Wainwright. It's achingly sweet, painfully honest and furious. ' BEARDED MAGAZINE
"When the power lines are down the likes of Alan Bonner will still be able to sit at a piano and pick up a guitar and mesmerise audiences with ability and creativity, without whistles and bells, without smoke and mirrors, but with just ability and emotion.." ELECTRIC HARMONY MUSIC
“Alan Bonner plays glam-tinged Piano ballads. You will want to steal his fabulously vintage outfits.”
