The Night Before The Morning After | EP | 2013 |
In 2010, six Glaswegian musicians came together to form the group. They immediately gelled and began writing their own brand of music - a sophisticated take on modern alternative funk.
"We simply want to play good music for folk - no bells, no whistles, no moody antics here... just six chaps who like a filthy groove."
The band skillfully blend in harmonies, memorable lyrics and exceptional musicality at every point to maximise the colour and vibrancy of their tunes.
Influenced by a range of classic funk/soul outfits such as Sly and the Family Stone, Parliament, The Meters, Prince, The Roots, Earth Wind and Fire, The Commodores etc, to eternal icons who dominate their own field, like Jimi Hendrix, Jaco Pastorius and The Beatles, to esoteric iconoclasts such as The Mars Volta, Primus, and Victor Wooten, Alabaster Jones keep the funk modern and fun.
In March 2013 the band recorded their latest EP, "The Night Before The Morning After", released on 29th July 2013, available on iTunes here:
