Adirjam - Fusion Progressive Rock Psychedelic ETHNIC Indie Live Act in Berlin

Adirjam Short Info

ENGLISH

THE SOUND
Best defined as Cosmopolitan Kurdesque, ADIRJAM is a
melting pot of Mid-Easterranean sounds and rhythms,
progressively combined with classical, psychedelic and rock
harmonies. Songs in Kurmanjî or other languages – and
especially in the ancient Zaza – intensify the band’s sweet
and spicy compositions.
The lyrics revolve mostly around gay love and passion,
pleasure and pain, but also highlight critical social issues,
such as war, homophobia and racism. The message is clear:
universal love.
ADIRJAM has ranked in the “Top 20 Indie Artists in Middle
Eastern Music” since December 2014. Covered on VICE.com
as “The new faces of Kurdish art rock”, ADIRJAM plays at
Berlin hotspots all over town, from Südblock to the legendary
concert hall Huxley’s Neue Welt, from university campus
gigs to open-air summer festivals.

THE STORY
Adir Jan Tekîn and Dave Sills had a first musical encounter
in summer 2013, and came across Conny Kreuter at a jam
session in winter that same year. The trio soon founded
ADIRJAM, began giving concerts, and were enthusiastically
acclaimed in Berlin and beyond. Bilal Hammour joined them
in summer 2015. ADIRJAM was now a complete and congenial
ensemble.
From the get-go, collaboration with other musicians was
writ large on the band’s agenda – to date, with Halid Pestil
(e-bass), Hogir Göregen (percussion), Ceyhun SoSo Kaya
(clarinet), Hasret Tiraz (tembûr), Finlay Panter (drums), Göksu Baysal (e-Bass) and
Shooresh Fezonî (percussion). This commitment to excellence
and musical diversity is reflected in ADIRJAM’s
broad-ranging repertoire of original arrangements.

DEUTSCH

MUSIK
In ihrem Cosmopolitan Kurdesque verschmelzen ADIRJAM
of Indie Artists of Middle Eastern Music gekürt.

HISTORIE
Kaya, Hasret Tiraz, Luca Marini, Finlay Panter, Göksu
Baysal und Shooresh Fezonî zusammen, was in ihren
bisweilen erweiterten Arrangements zum Ausdruck kommt.
